Redundant Ring Technology
Data transmission failure is a nightmare for all users in industrial applications like factory automation, intelligent transportation, surveillance and others. Network failure can result in irretrievable data loss, so disconnection recovery time is critical to prevent any data loss and system downtime. Many Ethernet protocols defined by the IEEE, such as STP, RSTP, MSTP and others are designed to recover from disconnections.

The recover times are much more critical in industrial environments than for most commercial applications. Because of these needs, industrial networking devices often utilize proprietary redundant ring technologies. Anewtech offers a number of enhanced redundant ring technologies including Open-Ring, O-Ring, and µ-Ring.
Open-Ring Open-Ring is an enhanced redundancy technology that makes ORing’s switches compatible with any redundant proprietary ring technologies from any other vendors. ORing's switches can be joined with other vendor's switches in a single ring. Currently, it has been proved that ORing’s switches are compatible with other vendor's switch. In cases where the ring is setup using proprietary technology, ORing offers a compatibility service where we can make our switches compatible with your particular network requirements.
O-Ring O-Ring is Anewtech's proprietary redundant ring technology, with recovery time of less than 10 milliseconds and up to 250 nodes. The O-Ring redundant ring technology can protect mission critical applications from network interruptions or temporary malfunction with its fast recover technology.
µ-Ring The µ-Ring is the world's fastest redundant Ethernet ring technology. The recover time of the µ-Ring is less than 1 millisecond for over 500 nodes, even in a Gigabit Ethernet environment. This innovation is based on the globally exclusive ASIC based redundant ring technology. This results in almost zero package loss when any node in the network accidentally fails.
